Imagine the delicate presentation, with
eyes riveted in tense anticipation of a splashy rise, as squadrons of salmon flies, silhouetted against the
steep canyon walls migrate overhead. Exotic yellow and scarlet Western
Tanangers dart from bank to bank carrying off egg laden salmon flies attempting to
complete a timeless life cycle. In a moment of vivid deja vu, you know where you are.....why this salmon
fly hatch captures the essence of Rock Creek.
Rock Creek offers many other fine opportunities to add to your portfolio
of memories. As the winter snows recede from the streamside
banks, the trout begin to focus on the Nemoura and Skwala
hatches......the first "bushy fly" surface action of the
season. A crescendo of prolific hatches provides superb angling through
the fall season.
Add diversity to your angling experience by exploring
nearby waters. Diverge to the pockets and riffles of the
"Forks" of Rock Creek and you will be
rewarded with solitude
while angling for eager westslope cutthrout; and brookies.
Stalk the meanders of Flint Creek for browns and rainbows, or try float
tubing for rainbows and brook trout on nearby Georgetown Lake during the iridescent
damsel fly hatch.
Jimmy Lee's Place was the first Montana conservation
easement for the Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks.
The primary purpose of the easement is to preserve the conservation
values of the land. In keeping with the principles of the easement,
guests are required to use single barbless hooks and to release all
trout.
